In this paper, a novel method for high temperature fatigue strength assessment of nickel superalloy turbine blades after operation at different times (303 and 473 h) was presented. The studies included destructive testing (fatigue testing at temperature 950 °C under cyclic bending load), non-destructive testing (Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection and Eddy Current method), and finite element modelling. High temperature fatigue tests were performed within load range from 5200 to 6600 N using a special self-designed blade grip attached to the conventional testing machine. The experimental results were compared with the finite element model generated from the ANSYS software. It was found that failure of turbine blades occurred in the area with the highest stress concertation, which was accurately predicted by the finite element (FE) model.

This paper describes the possibility of using a small autonomous helicopter to perform tasks using a remote sensing system. This article further shows the most effective way to properly set up autopilot and to process its validation during flight tests. The most important components of the remote sensing system are described and the possibilities of using this system to monitor gas transmission and distribution networks are presented.

In recent years, morphing wings have become not only a concept, but an aerodynamic solution for the aviation industry to take a step forward toward future technologies. However, continuously morphing airfoils became an interesting answer to provide green energy solutions. In this paper, the authors conducted experimental research on a continuously camber-morphing airfoil using the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods. The main objective of this work was to research a variety of morphing airfoils with different camber deflections. An average velocity distribution and turbulence distribution were compared and are discussed. The two-dimensional PIV results were compared to the CFD simulations to validate the numerical method’s accuracy and obtain the aerodynamic coefficient’s trends. A further comparison revealed that morphing airfoils have better aerodynamic performance than conventional airfoils for very low camber deflections and create substantial amounts of drag for significant camber deflections.

In recent decades, the rapid development of alternative methods for launching satellites into space has been observed. The main purpose of this work is to obtain reliable information about aerodynamic properties, which will be useful in the preliminary design of a low-cost satellite launch system based on a system consisting of a carrier aircraft and a space rocket orbiter. The numerical geometry of the aircraft carrier was developed as a result of the digitization process of the external surface of a real aircraft. Aerodynamic analysis was performed using specialized software based on solving partial differential equations using the finite volumes method. The results of the aerodynamic analysis were presented in a quantitative and qualitative manner. Furthermore, in order to confirm the correctness of the chosen method, the obtained results were compared with the results of experimental tests carried out in a wind tunnel. This will also prove that the adopted method is sufficient for solving this type of problem. The main advantage of the presented method is obtainment of reliable results in a relatively short time, which is extremely important during the preliminary design stage. The results presented in this paper will certainly be helpful for all researchers involved in the development of new and low-cost methods for launching small satellites into LEO.

This paper gives the idea and builds a sample test bench that allows for full testing and checking of new heat and anti-wear layers used in small plane piston engines. It explains the design idea, tech answers, and ways to watch the most key params like temp, load, spin speed, and forces of friction. The bench makes a copy of the running state usual for plane engines, making it easy to check the rubbing and heat features of the picked coats and how they act under set conditions. This includes sample test results as well as the ability to read specific engine parameters by standard engine components without any need for specialized anti-wear coatings. The novelty of this work lies in the development of a unique measurement and control system for real-time tracking of all critical engine parameters and for adaptive proper conditions to different scenarios. Therefore, the test stand should not only accurately repeat the loads typical of small aviation engines, but also permit the preparation and study of multi-layer anti-wear and thermal coatings with drastically extended service life and reduced operation costs for such power units.

This paper presents the development of an aerobatic aircraft including the influence of platform configuration on performance, elegance and safety of aerobatic manoeuvres. Several aircraft of different wing loadings were compared and the reduction of wing loading on manoeuvring slowdown was studied. Advantages of the biplane configuration influence on the desired properties of aerobatic aircraft were discussed in detail. Results of numerical simulations obtained for HARNAS-3 aircraft were compared with corresponding results received for EXTRA 300 aircraft. Some original design solutions for HARNAS-3, enabling easier control of this aircraft during the manoeuvring phase, were presented. Numerical simulations, wind tunnel tests and free flight experimental results for scaled-down HARNAS-3 models were presented, compared and discussed.
