Lead‐free double perovskites have emerged as stable and non‐toxic alternatives to Pb‐halide perovskites. Herein, the synthesis of Fe‐doped Cs2AgBiCl6 lead‐free double perovskites are reported that display blue emission using an antisolvent method. The crystal structure, morphology, optical properties, band structure, and stability of the Fe‐doped double perovskites were investigated systematically. Formation of the Fe‐doped Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite is confirmed by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. XRD and thermo‐gravimetric analysis (TGA) shows that the Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite has high structural and thermal stability, respectively. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM) analysis revealed the formation of dipyramidal shape Cs2AgBiCl6 crystals. Furthermore, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS) mapping shows the overlapping of Cs, Bi, Ag, Fe, and Cl elements and homogenous incorporation of Fe in Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite. The Fe‐doped Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite shows a strong absorption at 380 nm. It extends up to 700 nm, suggesting that sub‐band gap states transition may originate from the surface defect of the doped perovskite material. The radiative kinetics of the crystals was studied using the time‐correlated single‐photon counting (TCSPC) technique. Lattice parameters and band gap value of the Fe‐doped Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskites predicted by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations are confirmed by XRD and UV/Visible spectroscopy analysis. Time‐dependent photo‐response characteristics of the Fe‐doped Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite show fast response and recovery time of charge carriers. We believe that the successful incorporation of Fe in lead‐free, environmentally friendly Cs2AgBiCl6 double perovskite can open a new class of doped double perovskites with significant potential optoelectronics devices fabrication and photocatalytic applications.

The recent development of halide double perovskites A 2 B′BʺX 6 with favorable band gaps have provided a new search direction for stable Pb-free perovskite solar cells. Here, we propose a new lead free double perovskite Cs 2 TlBiI 6 as a potential candidate for perovskite solar cell absorber. We probe the structural, electronic and optical properties of this material through density functional theory calculations. Our calculations on this material show that Cs 2 TlBiI 6 adopt cubic double perovskite structure with space group Fm-3m. Using PBE exchange-correlation functional we obtain direct band gap of about 1.37 eV at the centre of Brillouin zone. The direct band gap and strong optical absorption of this material in the visible energy range of solar spectrum implies that Cs 2 TlBiI 6 can be a potential candidate for perovskite based solar cell. Our fundamental calculations on this material would open up further possibility of experimental studies on TlBi based perovskite.

Lead-free double perovskites (DPs) will emerge as viable and environmentally safe substitutes for Pb-halide perovskites, demonstrating stability and nontoxicity if their optoelectronic property is greatly improved. Doping has been experimentally validated as a powerful tool for enhancing optoelectronic properties and concurrently reducing the defect state density in DP materials. Fundamental understanding of the optical properties of DPs, particularly the self-trapped exciton (STEs) dynamics, plays a critical role in a range of optoelectronic applications. Our study investigates how Fe doping influences the structural and optical properties of Cs2AgBiCl6 DPs by understanding their STEs dynamics, which is currently lacking in the literature. A combined experimental-computational approach is employed to investigate the optoelectronic properties of pure and doped Cs2AgBiCl6 (Fe-Cs2AgBiCl6) perovskites. Successful incorporation of Fe3+ ions is confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Moreover, the Fe-Cs2AgBiCl6 DPs exhibit strong absorption from below 400 nm up to 700 nm, indicating sub-band gap state transitions originating from surface defects. Photoluminescence (PL) analysis demonstrates a significant enhancement in the PL intensity, attributed to an increased radiative recombination rate and higher STE density. The radiative kinetics and average lifetime are investigated by the time-resolved PL (TRPL) method; in addition, temperature-dependent PL measurements provide valuable insights into activation energy and exciton-phonon coupling strength. Our findings will not only deepen our understanding of charge carrier dynamics associated with STEs but also pave the way for the design of some promising perovskite materials for use in optoelectronics and photocatalysis.

In present work, we report synthesis of nanocrystalline Kesterite copper zinc tin sulfide (CZTS) films by RF magnetron sputtering method. Influence of calcination temperature on structural, morphology, optical, and electrical properties has been investigated. Formation of CZTS has been confirmed by XPS, whereas formation of Kesterite-CZTS films has been confirmed by XRD, TEM, and Raman spectroscopy. It has been observed that crystallinity and average grain size increase with increase in calcination temperature and CZTS crystallites have preferred orientation in (112) direction. NC-AFM analysis revealed the formation of uniform, densely packed, and highly interconnected network of grains of CZTS over the large area. Furthermore, surface roughness of CZTS films increases with increase in calcination temperature. Optical bandgap estimated using UV–Visible spectroscopy decreases from 1.91 eV for as-deposited CZTS film to 1.59 eV for the film calcinated at 400 °C which is quite close to optimum value of bandgap for energy conversion in visible region. The photo response shows a significant improvement with increase in calcinations temperature. The employment these films in solar cells can improve the conversion efficiency by reducing recombination rate of photo-generated charge carriers due to larger grain size. However, further detail study is needed before its realization in the solar cells.
