The magnetic nanoferrites (Fe 3 O 4 , CoFe 2 O 4 , and NiFe 2 O 4 ) were synthesized via hydrothermal method using an aloe vera plant extract solution. Magnetic nanoferrites were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), field emission electron microscope (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photon spectroscopy (XPS). Cytotoxicity was obtained using the water-soluble tetrazolium salt (WST) assay. X-ray diffraction analysis also demonstrated that the size range of the nanoferrites exhibited average diameters of 6–28 nm and also exhibited high crystallinity. Results showed that all the metallic nanoparticles (NPs) are magnetic with saturation values of Fe = 52 emu/g, Co = 33 emu/g, and Ni = 20.43 emu/g. The magnetic nanoferrites exhibited a high cell viability rate at high concentrations and as shown from the optical images of the cells signifies their nontoxic and biocompatibility property. From SEM and TEM, the spherical structure was noticeable and the particle size is also in accordance with XRD. The chemical states for each NP also confirmed the successful synthesis of each nanoferrite. Not to mention, the heating capabilities of the nanoferrites were investigated and showed significant temperature increase of 6 °C–8 °C and acceptable specific absorption rate (SAR) values. Interestingly, the results assure that the materials would be suitable as magnetic mediators for magnetic hyperthermia application for cancer treatment.
The bacterial-induced hollow cylinder NiO (HCNiO) nanomaterial was utilized for the enzymeless (without GOx) detection of glucose in basic conditions. The determination of glucose in 0.05 M NaOH solution with high sensitivity was performed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometry (i–t). The fundamental electrochemical parameters were analyzed and the obtained values of diffusion coefficient (D), heterogeneous rate constant (ks), electroactive surface coverage (Г), and transfer coefficient (alpha-α) are 1.75 × 10−6 cm2/s, 57.65 M−1·s−1, 1.45 × 10−10 mol/cm2, and 0.52 respectively. The peak current of the i–t method shows two dynamic linear ranges of calibration curves 0.2 to 3.5 µM and 0.5 to 250 µM for the glucose electro-oxidation. The Ni2+/Ni3+ couple with the HCNiO electrode and the electrocatalytic properties were found to be sensitive to the glucose oxidation. The green chemistry of NiO preparation from bacteria and the high catalytic ability of the oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) is the good choice for the development of a glucose sensor. The best obtained sensitivity and limit of detection (LOD) for this sensor were 3978.9 µA mM−1·cm−2 and 0.9 µM, respectively.

Equiatomic CoPt and FePt thin films grown on MgO(111) substrates at temperatures (Ta) from room temperature (RT) to 400 °C were studied. Distinct phase evolution was observed. In CoPt films, a metastable phase of L11 appears at Ta = 250 °C prior to the formation of thermodynamic equilibrium L10 phase; whereas no intermediate structure is found in the FePt films. Good epitaxial growth of CoPt films can be obtained at low Ta before ordering. However, in FePt films, high quality epitaxy appears after the occurrence of L10 ordering. Either L11 or L10 ordering induces magnetic hardening. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was obtained in the L11 films, yet the L10 sample exhibited isotropic magnetism. Corresponding evolution in magnetic domain structure was also reported.
