Prof. Dr. Juan J. Segura-Egea (MD, PhD, DDS) was born in Jaen (Andalucía, Spain) in 1959. He received his degree in medicine in 1982 from the University of Sevilla. He received his PhD degree in 1991 from the Dpt. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Sevilla. He obtained his degree in dentistry at the same university in 1995. He is currently Chairman and Professor of Endodontics, as well as Director of the Master's in Endodontics, at the University of Sevilla Dental School (Sevilla). Prof. Segura-Egea started his research activity in 1991. Since then, he has authored more than 120 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (H index = 28; Web of Science ResearcherID: A-6312-2009) and more than 200 papers in other scientific journals. He has been Editor of Endodoncia (2014-20), the official journal of the Spanish Endodontic Society (AEDE). He is Associated Editor of the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry and a member of the editorial board of the International Endodontic Journal. He is a reviewer in several journals, including Int. Endod. J., Acta Odont. Scand., Int. Dent. J., Diabetes Res. Clin. Pract., J. Clin. Med., Int. J. Dent., Clin. Oral Inv., Oral Dis., J. Periodontol., Arch. Oral Biol., Int. J. Oral Sci., Med. Oral. and Austr. Endod. J. His main lines of research are 1) endodontic medicine, which studies the relationships between systemic pathologies and endodontics; 2) antibiotic use and 3) regenerative endodontics.
