Dr. Bruno Guigas is a molecular biologist with a broad expertise in the pathophysiology of metabolic disorders. His research group at the department of Parasitology of the Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, The Netherlands) is driving projects within the emerging field of immunometabolism aiming to better understand the interactions between immune and metabolic cells within metabolic organs in the context of obesity, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and type 2 diabetes, and to identify new pathways and/or (druggable) molecular targets involved in the immune regulation of metabolic homeostasis. He has co-authored >85 peer-reviewed publications and is a scientific advisor for various funding agencies and biotech companies.
