I am a full professor of polymer science in the Department of Bioresources and Polymer Science at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest. My research activity contributes to the development of knowledge in the field of polymeric biomaterials based on natural and synthetic compounds with biomedical applications (polymers, hydrogels, polymeric nanoparticles, hybrid biomaterials, 3D printing, organ-on-a-chip, microfluidics). I hold a PhD in Engineering Sciences (UPB, 2007) with the thesis “Studies regarding the synthesis and characterisation of new biopolymers for bone implants”. I also have a PhD in Cell Biology obtained in 2009 in France (the University of Angers, Faculty of Medicine). I coordinated an interesting project on the topic of Non-viral vectors based on polymeric nanoparticles for cancer gene therapy. I have been the Head of the Laboratory of Advanced Processing Methods for Polymers and Nanomaterials (LMAPPN) L1M1 since 2016, the Head of the Department of Bioresources and Polymer Science since 2016, and the Scientific Director of Advanced Polymer Materials Group (2021). Research activity: 85 ISI-quoted papers. I am currently member of the Reviewer Board of Polymers (IF 5), Reviewer Board of Gels (IF 4.6), Guest Editor for Materials (IF 3.4, Guest Editor for Applied Science (IF 2.7) and Guest Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology (IF 5.6), and reviewe), and reviewer for many international peer-reviewed journals.
