I was born in 1968 in South Korea, and I studied for my BS, MS, and Ph.D courses at Chonnam National University, South Korea. Now, I have been working as a professor since 2003 in the Department of Bioactive Material Sciences and the School of Dentistry, at Jeonbuk National University. My main research areas are focused on understanding the fate of bone marrow stem cells in response to environmental pollutants or total body irradiation and to control such stem cell responses using natural or synthetic compounds. Parts of my research are also to develop tissue-regeneration specific biomaterials. Until now, I have had more than 150 publications in the field of developmental natural bioactive materials, stem cell biology, and cancer cell biology.
