Prof. Arnon Dag is a Professor and Senior Researcher in the Department of Fruit Tree Sciences at the Institute of Plant Sciences, Agricultural Research Organization (ARO) – Volcani Institute in Israel. He also serves as the Scientific Director of R & D South Regional Research Center, Israel. Education & Early Career: B.Sc. in Life Sciences – Tel Aviv University (1987–1990) M.Sc. in Plant Sciences – Tel Aviv University (1990–1992) Ph.D. in Agriculture – The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Agriculture (1993–1999) Before fully transitioning to research at the ARO, Prof. Dag spent 10 years working in the Extension Service of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, bridging practical farming practices with scientific research. Research Focus & Academic Contributions: Prof. Dag’s research centers on sustainable fruit tree agriculture, with emphasis on arid and semi-arid conditions. His key areas of expertise include: Olive Physiology and Cultivation: Irrigation regimes, macronutrient fertilization, olive oil quality, and olive stone diversity. Crop Pollination & Beekeeping: Research on honeybee (Apis mellifera) pollination efficiency, fruit set dynamics, and crop interaction. Fruit Tree Physiology & Precision Agriculture: Thermal imaging for subsurface drip irrigation in orchards, mineral nutrient uptake dynamics, and water relations under extreme drought stress.
