Increased manufacturing activity has an impact on environmental quality degradation. Waste generated from manufacturing activities is one of the causes. Previous studies have referred to this waste as value uncaptured. Minimizing value uncaptured is a solution to improve environmental quality. This study aims to reduce value uncaptured by converting it into value captured. This process requires a value proposition design approach because of its advantages. One of the advantages of this approach is that it can improve existing or future products/services. To do so, this research uses a case study of a furniture company. To implement a converting process, a sustainable business model is proposed to solve this problem. This business model combines several methods: value proposition design, house of value and the product sustainability index matrix. Recently, the existing value proposition problem-solving has been using the value proposition design method. This research proposed implementing a house of value to replace the fitting process. The questionnaire is developed to obtain various value uncaptured in the company. To the weight of the value uncaptured, this research utilized the pairwise comparison method. Then, the weights could represent the importance of jobs. Based on the highest weight of these jobs, the alternative gains would be selected. To provide the weight of the gain creators and value captured, the house of value method is developed. Referring to three pillars of sustainability, the value captured should be considered. This research proposed implementing a product sustainability index which in turn produces eco-friendly products. This study produces “eco-friendly products” as sustainability value captured. The sustainability business model could be an alternative policy to minimize the existence of value uncaptured.

In this paper, the problem to be solved is a feasibility study for waste utilization facilities development, especially for spent bleaching by considering the market, technical, and economic aspects. The amount of spent bleaching produced by the palm oil industry in Indonesia reaches 750000 tons/year. Government regulation number 101 2014 categorized spent bleaching earth as hazardous waste with a code B 413. Therefore, the companies must carry out environmental protection and management for spent bleaching earth. This facility built to capture the market of spent bleaching earth waste disposal service, raw material substitution, and alternative fuel (coal). From the market perspective, the facility will capture about 7% market shares. Based on the technical aspect, the calcination process, kiln operational, and quality of clinker won't be disrupted if the capacity of waste facilities is 7-8 tons per hour. Based on the Payback Period calculation, it needs 5.4 years to return the investment. From the Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return, it can be concluded that the development of waste utilization facility for spent bleaching is feasible. Based on sensitivity analysis the facilities must run above 60% capacity to make sure the facilities still feasible. Further research is expected to analyze the potential for other B3 waste which can managed by the facility and potential to enter end to end waste management business so it can have a greater impact to the company and society.

The more complex the production system of a company, definitely makes it sensitive of change or known as disruption. Disruptions always occur in production process and also cause productivity decrease. If there are any kind of disruptions occur, so the desicion maker have to prioritize it appropriately. The risk is going to be greater as a consequance when the priority made is false. FMEA is one method that is often used for evaluation and prioritization, especially failure as one type of disruption to minimize risk which can be adopted to assess and evaluate disruptions. The FMEA has some shortcomings including it is not considering the importance of each factor, not considering uncertain information from expert, not considering the cost as one of the criterion considered, and the level of severity is hard to measure, because on different objects can be measured by different aspect. Therefore, this research aims to develop FMEA model for prioritizing disruptions in production process. The model can improve some shortcomings of conventional FMEA. In achieving this goal, several methods are integrated including Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which aims to determine the importance weighting of RPN element factors. In addition, this study uses the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution for prioritizing disruption. Rough set also uses as a method for aggregating opinion of experts, and also uses for improving uncertain information. The model also considers loss revenue as aspect to measure severity level of disruption in determining prioritization.

New product development is an important innovation that should be done to meet consumers’ new trends. This paper is prominent as it discusses new product development through the inactive problem perspective in SMEs in Indonesia as a way to explore customers’ expectations, which are often challenging to analyze. The capability to develop a new product based on the inactive problem perspective allows SMEs to become pioneers that possess various competitive advantages, including strong brand awareness. This study included 14 samples of SMEs to represent the characteristics of SMEs in Indonesia between 2016 and 2018. We used the particle swarm optimization approach for the decision making of several SME parameters with the profit maximization function. This paper is the first paper to discuss the relationship between the cost of ideas and production costs in the types of SMEs with an inactive problem perspective in Indonesia to obtain maximum profits by considering various factors that affect the costs and revenue of SMEs. This paper also analyzes the cost used for an idea realization to get maximum profit. This study shows that differences were found in each type of SME, and these difference were related to the amount of funds that were used to explore, realize, and make a profit out of a specific idea.

Customers’ needs and wants with regard to dairy products are increasingly diverse, and companies must be able to produce a variety of products. This study aimed to obtain alternative product configurations in accordance with customer requirements and to determine the types of modules required to realize the product by synergizing conjoint analysis and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method. The product configuration was based on pleasurable design consisting of three aspects, namely functionality, usability, and pleasure. Pleasurable design was chosen because it involves the human in the product design as a product user so that the product design is in accordance with customer expectations. The research used the survey method with consumers of ice cream. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the product attributes desired by consumers. Orthogonal design was used to construct alternative product configurations, while the product configuration rank was determined using conjoint analysis. Based on the results of the research, the selected attributes for the functionality aspects were taste and texture, the selected attributes for the usability aspects were shape and packaging materials, and the selected attributes for the pleasure aspects were health benefits and appearance. The orthogonal design results led to 25 alternative product configurations, followed by determination of the ranking of alternative product configurations. Then the DEMATEL method was applied to analyse the relationship between the product configuration attributes to determine the types of modules that must be provided.

Tight competition encourages textile companies to increase their competitiveness to efficient in all fields, especially by reducing material stock to its optimum figures without disrupting production operations. Currently this textile manufacture has implemented SAP as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. SAP is currently used as Material Resources Planning (MRP), purchasing and inventory control software. Purchases are made automatically using Reorder Point (ROP) and inventory control using the ABC analysis method. In time being there is no relationship between the ABC analysis method to inventory control and ROP. With this condition, the purchase order for material is raised when the stock level is lower than ROP even these unnecessary, causing the stock to become slow moving and dormant when it reaches six months laying on the warehouse and causing excess inventory. This study aims to design and implement how the ABC method can be used to determine purchasing decisions and which ROP calculations should be used. The ABC multi criteria analysis in this study shows that ABC categorization is acceptable for deciding ROP determination. This method of inventory management has the potential to reduce inventory levels up to 17% and eliminate dormant and slow moving

The problems that occur in PT Sepatu are still many defect products. To improve the quality and reduce the number of defects is to make improvements to the flow of the process by using the DMAI stages. In the Define stage, the determination of the selected critical defect is needle fracture, jump stitch, loose stitch, Upper symmetry, and Upper wrinkling. In the Measure phase, DPMO measurements were carried out at 4028 units and a sigma level of 4.1. In the Analyze stage, analyze complex problems that cause defects in the sewing department using Network of Problem (NoP). The output of Nop in the form of partial solution (Ps) and sub problem (Pb) becomes the FMEA input, which will then be analyzed and measured in the value of the RPN. The potential Failure Mode (s) with the highest RPN score in the FMEA table will be a priority and become the initial input to the OTSM-TRIZ stage procedure. In the Improve phase using 40 selected inventory principles the repair solution performs cleaning and checking the position of the rotary-yarn tip at the start of each shift, gives a sign sticker on the tension ring, makes a tool to check bent needles, conducts employee training and employee skill mapping. From the results of the implementation of recommendations, improvements to the estimated reduction defect of 705 pairs of shoes with sigma 4.3 level

Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is one of maintenance method that believed to be the most effective at reduction of cost and number of activities than the other maintenance methods. Degradation monitoring condition is an important things in order to get effective CBM system. The rapid development in information and communication has lead our industrial phase to industry 4.0, where are lot of smart objects can be connected and integrated in one network system, which is called Internet of Things (IoT). IoT facilitates monitoring and controlling to an object, and help maintenance system to monitor, record, and analyze the degradation of the object. Furthermore, with real time monitoring, system could detect and make decision when is maintenance activity should be done with consideration in cost. This research focused in the issue of integration of many smart objects to support CBM activities in cost reduction and IoT decision making with cost minimization as criteria. Cost analysis has been done using Activity Based Costing (ABC) and mathematical model has been constructed for decision making criteria which will be tested with numerical test using the data that gathered from company which applied IoT system. There are three condition which are tested: system without IoT implementation, current system with IoT implementation (auto shutdown when machine stroke reaches 300), and IoT system that consider the degradation condition to shut down. The result shows that IoT based CBM system that consider degradation level will incur optimal number of activities which resulting in fewer cost that the other systems. With fewer activity maintenance than auto-shutdown at 300 strokes, shows that the productivity increase without any delay due to maintenance

During the production process DU base frame product has been found quite a defect occurrence. Defects occurring during the production process of course affect the cost, time and quality of the product production of PT. X, so it is required a handling to overcome the risk of defects that occur so that the product is free from the risk of defects that do not and improve product quality. The method that can overcome the problem above is to predict the risk of product defect by designing a risk management process framework. The risk management planning process is a stage identifying the risk of defects that have occurred or the risk of malformed defects occurred and then conducting a risk-defect analysis, then evaluating the risks of such defects and risk treatment and Monitoring and review. There are also tools and methods used in this risk management study are fishbone and FMEA. Fishbone is used as a tool as a method to cause identification while FMEA is used in risk analysis to determine risk priority number (RPN). From RPN defects that have the highest value will be taken risk evaluation and risk treatment to prevent the same defect. With this research in hopes of the results of quality, cost and production time in DU Base Frame products can remain consistent and give rise to the awareness of the personnel involved in the product manufacturing process. From risk mitigation results found there are 4 out of 56 risk cases that belong to the high-risk category in the process of milling (RPN 288), blasting (RPN 288 & 224) and painting (256). These risks are then conducted advice on the improvements that are discussed with the team and the costumer and the result of defects that occur reduced even eliminated. The importance of the detailed procedures and the awareness of each personnel involved becomes one of the keys to avoid risk in the production process of a product

PT XYZ is a company in Indonesia engaged in manufacturing. One strategy to support these activities is to adjust the workload of the existing work to increase productivity in this company. Workload is very influential on employee performance productivity because the environment and work capacity are aligned with productivity. If the burden received is too heavy, then employee productivity will decrease, whereas if the workload is balanced then employee productivity will increase. Workload Analysis is a method used to determine the time, effort, and resources needed by an organization in identifying the actual needs of Human Resources (HR) in quality and quantity in accordance with the goals and strategies of the organization. Workload analysis with Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) is the allocation of the total number of personnel needed to work on the entire transaction in a system / process at a certain time / period. The staff allocated includes full-time, part-time and short-hour. While the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Administration Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) method is a method used to analyze workers 'mental workload by measuring workers' subjective perceptions. This study will combine both methods to get the expected conclusions. This study aims to measure workload analysis aimed at making the workload between the sections in the Human Capital Bureau to be equally. The calculation results from the FTE stated that the workload contained in the Human Capital Bureau is still not evenly distributed, the recruitment and assessments section has a workload that tends to be low while other parts have a workload that tends to be high. Subjective workload that most affects is on the effort index, which is 24.09%, followed by temporal demand of 21.64%, performance aspects of 21.17%, mental aspects of demand of 19.66%, frustration level of 13, 44%, and the physical demand aspect is 0%

The X power plant is one of an electric company subsidiaries. Engaged in providing electricity for the certain regions. In general, the type of treatment from X power plant is short and long term maintenance. The application of these two systems helps X power plant to maintain the machines. The author argues that the type of maintenance from X power plant is not or is not yet optimal, the author wants to test whether reliability centered maintenance II treatment method can be applied in X power plant so that the efficiency and maintenance of the machine is in accordance with their individual needs. After implementing the RCM II information worksheet and RCM II decision worksheet, it is found that the existing maintenance management system in X power plant can be. Several incompatibility are detected, and should be matched with the corresponding maintenance method. For further research, the author recommend that the object of research are broadened so that the RCM II method can be used on other energy generating industries.
