Prof. Dr. José António Teixeira is currently a Professor in the Biological Engineering Department, University of Minho (since 2000). He has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Porto (1980) and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, also from the University of Porto (1988). José António Teixeira has been developing his research activities in two main areas: industrial biotechnology (including bioprocess development for the valorization of agro-industrial residues and new bioreactor and continuous processing designs) and food biotechnology (including non-conventional food processing and food nanotechnology). He has supervised numerous researchers, including 52 Ph.D. students and 25 postdocs. He has been the principal investigator for 39 projects with external financial support. He has edited six books and published more than 550 papers in peer-reviewed journals (h-index of 76 for Scopus/ISI). He was named a Highly Cited Researcher in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
