Prof. Dr. Ivan Špánik has been a Professor at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology, Slovak University of Technology, since 2010. From 2003 to 2010, he was a Senior Researcher at the same department. Before that, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University, in 2001. His research interests are separation sciences, chiral separation, food analysis, and environmental analysis; the development of novel techniques and methodologies for the identification/determination and monitoring of organic contaminants in the environment, food matrices, and pharmaceutically active substances; quality assurance and quality control in analytical chemistry; and the design of environmental information and data management systems.
