Catarina Moreira is an Associate Professor of Machine Learning at the Data Science Institute, University of Technology Sydney. Her research spans human-centered AI, explainable AI, and probabilistic graphical models, focusing on creating transparent, fair, and trustworthy AI systems. She co-founded the XAMI research initiative, which develops human-interactive models addressing critical issues in AI ethics and transparency. As the UNESCO Co-Chair on AI and Extended Reality, Dr. Moreira leads collaborative programs that integrate AI for medical diagnosis, advancing the training of radiologists with cutting-edge tools.
