Prof. Jamel Orfi obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University, Canada, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Sherbrooke University, Canada, in 1995. He has worked in Tunisia and Canada as an assistant professor. He joined King Saud University (KSU) in 2007. His research interests focus on desalination processes and analysis of thermal and desalination systems, as well as on renewable energy applications. He has developed several national and international collaborations on power and desalination, solar energy, evaporative cooling systems, and brine discharge problems. He was, between 2012 and 2014, a member of KSU’s MED (multiple-effect distillation) technology transfer team collaborating with the SWCC (Saline Water Conversion Corporation). He has been a fellow of K.A.CARE Energy Research and Innovation since 2019.
