Dr. Dimitris I. Kondarides is professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering (DCE) of the University of Patras (UPat), Greece. He received his B.S. in Chemistry (1987) from UPat and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (1993) from the same University under a scholarship of the Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas. From 1993 to 1994 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Tokyo under a fellowship of the Japanese-German Center, Berlin. After his military service (1994-1996) he worked as a researcher until 2001 when he joined the academic staff of the DCE/UPat. His research interests include heterogeneous catalysis and photocatalysis, with emphasis given in environmental and energy-related applications. Recently, his efforts are directed toward the development of novel materials and processes for the production of fuel hydrogen from renewable resources, including solar energy and biomass. He is co-Editor of the Chemical Engineering Journal.
