(1) Background: Small objects in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images are often scattered throughout various regions of the image, such as the corners, and may be blocked by larger objects, as well as susceptible to image noise. Moreover, due to their small size, these objects occupy a limited area in the image, resulting in a scarcity of effective features for detection. (2) Methods: To address the detection of small objects in UAV imagery, we introduce a novel algorithm called High-Resolution Feature Pyramid Network Mamba-Based YOLO (HRMamba-YOLO). This algorithm leverages the strengths of a High-Resolution Network (HRNet), EfficientVMamba, and YOLOv8, integrating a Double Spatial Pyramid Pooling (Double SPP) module, an Efficient Mamba Module (EMM), and a Fusion Mamba Module (FMM) to enhance feature extraction and capture contextual information. Additionally, a new Multi-Scale Feature Fusion Network, High-Resolution Feature Pyramid Network (HRFPN), and FMM improved feature interactions and enhanced the performance of small object detection. (3) Results: For the VisDroneDET dataset, the proposed algorithm achieved a 4.4% higher Mean Average Precision (mAP) compared to YOLOv8-m. The experimental results showed that HRMamba achieved a mAP of 37.1%, surpassing YOLOv8-m by 3.8% (Dota1.5 dataset). For the UCAS_AOD dataset and the DIOR dataset, our model had a mAP 1.5% and 0.3% higher than the YOLOv8-m model, respectively. To be fair, all the models were trained without a pre-trained model. (4) Conclusions: This study not only highlights the exceptional performance and efficiency of HRMamba-YOLO in small object detection tasks but also provides innovative solutions and valuable insights for future research.

Addressing the problem that the object size in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) aerial images is too small and contains limited feature information, leading to existing detection algorithms having less than ideal performance in small object detection, we propose a UAV aerial object detection system named YOLv5_mamba based on bidirectional dense feedback network and adaptive gate feature fusion. This paper improves the You Only Look Once Version 5 (YOLOv5) algorithm by firstly introducing the Faster Implementation of CSP Bottleneck with 2 convolutions (C2f) module from YOLOv8 into the backbone network to enhance the feature extraction capability of the backbone network. Furthermore, the mamba module and C2f module are introduced to construct a bidirectional dense feedback network to enhance the transfer of contextual information in the neck part. Thirdly, an adaptive gate feature fusion network is proposed to improve the head part of YOLOv5 and enhance its final detection capability. Experimental results on the public UAV aerial dataset VisDrone2019 demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves the detection accuracy by 9.3% compared to the original YOLOv5 baseline network, showing better detection performance for small objects. For the UCAS_AOD dataset, the proposed algorithm outperforms YOLOv5-s by 9%. In the case of the DIOR dataset, the proposed algorithm exceeds YOLOv5-s by 12%.

This study investigated the potential for using principal component analysis (PCA) to improve real‐time forest fire detection with popular algorithms, such as YOLOv3 and SSD. Before YOLOv3/SSD training, the authors utilised PCA to extract features. Results showed that PCA with YOLOv3 increased the mean average precision (mAP) by 7.3%. PCA with SSD increased the mAP by 4.6%. These results suggest that PCA to be a robust tool for improving different objective detection networks.

In the context of Industry 4.0, industrial production equipment needs to communicate through the industrial internet to improve the intelligence of industrial production. This requires the current communication network to have the ability of large-scale equipment access, multiple communication protocols/heterogeneous systems interoperability, and end-to-end deterministic low-latency transmission. Time-sensitive network (TSN), as a new generation of deterministic Ethernet communication technology, is the main development direction of time-critical communication technology applied in industrial environments, and Wi-Fi technology has become the main way of wireless access for users due to its advantages of high portability and mobility. Therefore, accessing WiFi in the TSN is a major development direction of the current industrial internet. In this paper, we model the scheduling problem of TSN and WiFi converged networks and propose a scheme based on a greedy strategy distributed estimation algorithm (GE) to solve the scheduling problem. Compared with the integer linear programming (ILP) algorithm and the Tabu algorithm, the algorithm implemented in this paper outperforms the other algorithms in being able to adapt to a variety of different scenarios and in scheduling optimization efficiency, especially when the amount of traffic to be deployed is large.

Efficient provisioning of 5G network slices is a major challenge for 5G network slicing technology. Previous slice provisioning methods have only considered network resource attributes and ignored network topology attributes. These methods may result in a decrease in the slice acceptance ratio and the slice provisioning revenue. To address these issues, we propose a two-stage heuristic slice provisioning algorithm, called RT-CSP, for the 5G core network by jointly considering network resource attributes and topology attributes in this paper. The first stage of our method is called the slice node provisioning stage, in which we propose an approach to scoring and ranking nodes using network resource attributes (i.e., CPU capacity and bandwidth) and topology attributes (i.e., degree centrality and closeness centrality). Slice nodes are then provisioned according to the node ranking results. In the second stage, called the slice link provisioning stage, the k-shortest path algorithm is implemented to provision slice links. To further improve the performance of RT-CSP, we propose RT-CSP+, which uses our designed strategy, called minMaxBWUtilHops, to select the best physical path to host the slice link. The strategy minimizes the product of the maximum link bandwidth utilization of the candidate physical path and the number of hops in it to avoid creating bottlenecks in the physical path and reduce the bandwidth cost. Using extensive simulations, we compared our results with those of the state-of-the-art algorithms. The experimental results show that our algorithms increase slice acceptance ratio and improve the provisioning revenue-to-cost ratio.
