Dr. M. Selim Ünlü is a distinguished professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, Boston University. He completed his Ph.D. studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He has been awarded Fellow, AIMBE in 2020. His most recent project is developing an optical biosensor in collaboration with researchers from the UC San Diego School of Medicine. This technology enables rapid detection of the monkeypox virus at the point of care, eliminating the need to wait for lab results. His areas of interest include biophotonics, biological imaging techniques, biosensors, digital (single-particle and molecule) detection, nanophotonics, solid immersion lens microscopy, imaging, and analysis of semiconductor devices and circuits. His teaching disciplines include circuits, optics, waves, metrology, biosensors, introduction to electronics, fiberoptic communication systems, lasers, and guided-wave optoelectronics.
