Maria Aparecida Fernandez, PhD. Dr Fernandez received her Bachelor in Biological Sciences, Medical Modality (1979); MSc (1983) and PhD (1990) in Morphology and Cell Biology, all from the Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirao Preto, Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brasil. Postdoctoral studies in molecular genetics at Institut Pasteur (1992-1994) and Institut Curie (2009-2010), Paris, France. Full Professor at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá, UEM, Brazil, since 1982. Dr Fernandez is a professor at Universidade Estadual de Maringa where she teaches undergraduate students in the Biological Sciences program and supervises graduate students in the research fields: ncRNAs; Y RNAs and sbRNAs; protein interactomes associated with DNA repair/replication. She has 72 published papers, and is a holder of the Santander Banespa Science and Innovation Award (2006).
