I am a professor at the Center for Sustainable Environmental Sanitation (CSES), Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). I am also the Secretary-general of Toilet Professional Committee under China Association of Urban Environmental Sanitation, Editor of Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development, Management committee member of IWA Sanitation and Water Management in Low and Middle-Income Countries Specialist Group. I was an academic visitor in Imperial College London in 2018-2019 and University of Birmingham in 2025. I works on water and sanitation mainly in China but also in +10 countries such as Mongolia, Lesotho, Nepal, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Brazil, South Africa, Germany, Norway, Austria, etc. He has over 100 publications and drafts over 10 standards. He is involved in +40 domestic and international projects from UNICEF, Gates Foundation, ACF Foundation. BRICS, National Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, etc.
