Biography

Ljubica Tasic is a Full Professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. Her research focuses on biochemistry, bionanotechnology, and metabolomics. Her research group investigates the chemistry and biochemistry of diseases using bioanalytical, biophysical, and biochemical techniques to characterize complex mixtures, elucidate biomolecular structures, and understand biological systems and disease-associated molecular changes. A central goal is to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying various diseases, with particular emphasis on human health. In bionanotechnology, the group explores the applications of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, particularly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and develops biogenic approaches for their synthesis. The group also develops novel materials and biologically active compounds from agro-industrial waste, contributing to the valorization and upcycling of renewable resources and the development of sustainable solutions.
