Dr Yashar Javadi is a Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellow (Lecturer as part of the Strathclyde Global Talent Programme) at the University of Strathclyde. His multidisciplinary work has been reflected in his appointment, which is a joint appointment between two departments (EEE and DMEM). In a career spanning over 16 years in the field of engineering (with particular focus on welding, non-destructive evaluation, additive manufacturing, and robotics), he has worked as a lecturer and postdoctoral research associate (at the University of Manchester and the University of Strathclyde) in academia and a manager of a welding/NDT department and welding engineer in industry. He has published 50 journal papers and 34 conference papers, with an h-index of 24 and 1738 citations in total. Currently, he is a member of the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE), where his research focus is on in-process inspection and residual stress measurement (non-destructive methods) in welding and Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). He has recently focused on renewable energy and the structural integrity of Offshore Wind Turbines (OWTs) for which he is leading a project awarded by EPSRC.
