David Blaschke is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Wroclaw (Poland). He received a Diploma in Physics (1983) and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics 1987) at the University of Rostock (Germany), where he habilitated in 1995 and became a Private Docent in 1996. In 1998, he won the competition for a Professorship in Particle and Astrophysics at the University of Rostock, which was partly funded by the Max-Planck Society. In January 2001 he became elected Vice Director of the Bogoliubov Laboratory for Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Dubna (Russia); a position he held for 7 years. In the period 2003–2006, he held guest professor positions at the Universities of Bielefeld, Rostock, and Zagreb and a visiting scientist position at GSI Darmstadt. His research interest lies in Quantum Field Theory, Matter under Extreme Conditions in Heavy-Ion Collisions, and Compact Star Astrophysics. He has contributed to the problem of bound state formation and dissociation in strongly interacting matter at high densities, temperatures, and field strengths, in thermodynamic equilibrium and in non-equilibrium. He is a member of the German, Polish, and European Physical Societies and became an elected member of the Academia Europaea in 2012. He holds honorary doctorates from Dubna State University (2017) and the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan (2019). In 2022, he received the Minister prize for excellent
