Data normalization is a data preprocessing task and one of the first to be performed during intellectual analysis, particularly in the case of tabular data. The importance of its implementation is determined by the need to reduce the sensitivity of the artificial intelligence model to the values of the features in the dataset to increase the studied model’s adequacy. This paper focuses on the problem of effectively preprocessing data to improve the accuracy of intellectual analysis in the case of performing medical diagnostic tasks. We developed a new two-step method for data normalization of numerical medical datasets. It is based on the possibility of considering both the interdependencies between the features of each observation from the dataset and their absolute values to improve the accuracy when performing medical data mining tasks. We describe and substantiate each step of the algorithmic implementation of the method. We also visualize the results of the proposed method. The proposed method was modeled using six different machine learning methods based on decision trees when performing binary and multiclass classification tasks. We used six real-world, freely available medical datasets with different numbers of vectors, attributes, and classes to conduct experiments. A comparison between the effectiveness of the developed method and that of five existing data normalization methods was carried out. It was experimentally established that the developed method increases the accuracy of the Decision Tree and Extra Trees Classifier by 1–5% in the case of performing the binary classification task and the accuracy of the Bagging, Decision Tree, and Extra Trees Classifier by 1–6% in the case of performing the multiclass classification task. Increasing the accuracy of these classifiers only by using the new data normalization method satisfies all the prerequisites for its application in practice when performing various medical data mining tasks.
This study considers the task of applying artificial intelligence to recognize bank fraud. In recent years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bank fraud has become even more common due to the massive transition of many operations to online platforms and the creation of many charitable funds that criminals can use to deceive users. The present work focuses on machine learning algorithms as a tool well suited for analyzing and recognizing online banking transactions. The study’s scientific novelty is the development of machine learning models for identifying fraudulent banking transactions and techniques for preprocessing bank data for further comparison and selection of the best results. This paper also details various methods for improving detection accuracy, i.e., handling highly imbalanced datasets, feature transformation, and feature engineering. The proposed model, which is based on an artificial neural network, effectively improves the accuracy of fraudulent transaction detection. The results of the different algorithms are visualized, and the logistic regression algorithm performs the best, with an output AUC value of approximately 0.946. The stacked generalization shows a better AUC of 0.954. The recognition of banking fraud using artificial intelligence algorithms is a topical issue in our digital society.
Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders in the world, affecting millions of people. Early detection of depression is crucial for effective medical intervention. Multimodal networks can greatly assist in the detection of depression, especially in situations where in patients are not always aware of or able to express their symptoms. By analyzing text and audio data, such networks are able to automatically identify patterns in speech and behavior that indicate a depressive state. In this study, we propose two multimodal information fusion networks: early and late fusion. These networks were developed using convolutional neural network (CNN) layers to learn local patterns, a bidirectional LSTM (Bi-LSTM) to process sequences, and a self-attention mechanism to improve focus on key parts of the data. The DAIC-WOZ and EDAIC-WOZ datasets were used for the experiments. The experiments compared the precision, recall, f1-score, and accuracy metrics for the cases of using early and late multimodal data fusion and found that the early information fusion multimodal network achieved higher classification accuracy results. On the test dataset, this network achieved an f1-score of 0.79 and an overall classification accuracy of 0.86, indicating its effectiveness in detecting depression.
Chaos-based image encryption schemes are applied widely for their cryptographic properties. However, chaos and cryptographic relations remain a challenge. The chaotic systems are defined on the set of real numbers and then normalized to a small group of integers in the range 0–255, which affects the security of such cryptosystems. This paper proposes an image encryption system developed using deep learning to realize the secure and efficient transmission of medical images over an insecure network. The non-linearity introduced with deep learning makes the encryption system secure against plaintext attacks. Another limiting factor for applying deep learning in this area is the quality of the recovered image. The application of an appropriate loss function further improves the quality of the recovered image. The loss function employs the structure similarity index metric (SSIM) to train the encryption/decryption network to achieve the desired output. This loss function helped to generate cipher images similar to the target cipher images and recovered images similar to the originals concerning structure, luminance and contrast. The images recovered through the proposed decryption scheme were high-quality, which was further justified by their PSNR values. Security analysis and its results explain that the proposed model provides security against statistical and differential attacks. Comparative analysis justified the robustness of the proposed encryption system.
The problem of effective intellectual analysis in the case of handling short datasets is topical in various application areas. Such problems arise in medicine, economics, materials science, science, etc. This paper deals with a new additive input-doubling method designed by the authors for processing short and very short datasets. The main steps of the method should include the procedure of data augmentation within the existing dataset both in rows and columns (without training), the use of nonlinear SVR to implement the training procedure, and the formation of the result based on the author’s procedure. The authors show that the developed data augmentation procedure corresponds to the principles of axial symmetry. The training and application procedures of the method developed are described in detail, and two algorithmic implementations are presented. The optimal parameters of the method operation were selected experimentally. The efficiency of its work during the processing of short datasets for solving the prediction task was established experimentally by comparison with other methods of this class. The highest prediction accuracy based on both proposed algorithmic implementations of a method among all of the investigated ones was defined. The main areas of application of the developed method are described, and its shortcomings and prospects of further research are given.
