Dr. Rosa Durán-Patrón graduated in Chemical Sciences from the University of Cádiz in 1992 and received her PhD degree from the University of Cádiz in 1998. This doctoral thesis was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She completed a one-year post-doctoral stay (October 1998 to September 1999) in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Durham (UK). She held the positions of Senior Research Associate from October 1998 to March 1999 in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Durham (UK) and Profesor Asociado from January 1994 to January 2004 in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cádiz. At present, she has held a position as Profesor Titular de Universidad in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cádiz since 2004. Her current research interests include the following: experiments in isotopic labeling to obtain information on the biosynthetic pathways of microorganisms; biotransformation experiments to study the biodegradation pathways of toxic compounds; or obtaining difficult compounds to achieve by chemical synthesis. Currently, she is immersed in the development of a new research line devoted to the isolation of new bioactive compounds from marine-derived fungi from the Bay of Cádiz. As a result of her research, she has participated in 24 research projects, 3 of them as head research, and she has published 42 articles in international journals and 2 book chapters.
