Professor and Dean of Engineering and Computer Science, The University of Victoria, Canada. She is known nationally and internationally for her research and innovation in microfluidics and its applications to device miniaturization and sensing technologies. Her group has extensive experience in surface science and developing lab-on-chip devices for cancer cell detection, online water quality monitoring, and portable sensors for sensitive and selective detection of target gases (such as biomarkers in breath, nuisance sewer gases, and GHGs). Her work has led to several patents, licenses, and commercialization with industrial partners in different sectors, including oil/gas, wastewater, health, and safety and security.
