Maria Anagnostouli completed her specialty in Neurology at the Aeginition University Hospital in 1992 and received her official specialty license in January 1993. Her dissertation was performed in the Research Laboratory of the A' Department of Neurology, NKUA, in collaboration with the Department of Immunopeptides Chemistry of the Center 'DEMOKRITOS' in 1995. From 1996 to 2004, she was a salaried scientific consultant at the A' Department of Neurology, NKUA, and from 2004 to 2010, Lecturer in the same Department. From 2010 until today, she held the position of Assistant Professor and then Permanent Assistant Professor at the A' Department of Neurology, NKUA, of the Medical School of the University of Athens, in Aeginition Hospital, with full clinical, educational, and research duties. She has established the Research Immunogenetics Laboratory of the A' Department of Neurology, NKUA, and she is the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Demyelinating Diseases Unit of the same Department. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the International Pediatric MS Study Group (IPMSSG), the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI), the Hellenic Neurological Society and the Hellenic Society of Immunology (HIA). Her interests are Multiple Sclerosis (adults and children) and CNS demyelinating diseases, neuroimmunology, immunogenetics, and autoimmunity.
