Richard Demo Souza received a D.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianóplis, Brazil in 2003. From 2004 to 2016, he was an associate professor at the Federal University of Technology—Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil. Since 2017, he has been with UFSC, where he is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. His research interests include wireless communications and signal processing. He is the supervisor who was awarded Best PhD Thesis in Electrical Engineering in Brazil in 2014 and a co-recipient of the 2016 Research Award from the Cuban Academy of Sciences. He was an editor and an associate editor for the SBrT Journal of Communications and Information Systems, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
