Damianos Chatzievangelou is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellow and member of the “ecological monitoring and indicators task force” within various Spanish and european projects of ICM-CSIC, leading several tasks focused on marine ecological monitoring. After studying Biology in his native Greece, he completed the MSc program "Oceanography and Marine Environment Management" at the University of Barcelona. He got his PhD in Geosciences from Jacobs University Bremen (now Constructor University) in Germany, and between 2016 and 2022 he was the main pilot of the Internet Operated Deep-sea Crawler “Wally”, integrated in the Ocean Networks Canada NEPTUNE undewrwater cabled observatory. He is interested in the application of computational methods to integrate data from multiple sources, such as footage from mobile and stationary robotic platforms, into coherent ecological indicators.
