Conceptual modeling, which includes both control-flow and data-flow modeling, has posed great challenges for conventional business process management systems. To support systematic data-flow modeling and analysis, in this paper, we propose a novel and effective Petri net-based approach. We first introduce a new type of Petri net, called WFIO-net, the firing rule of which is formally defined by extending classical Petri net with read and write semantics, to model both the control-flow and data-flow information. Then, we discuss about three possible data-flow errors over a WFIO-net, i.e., the missing, redundant and conflicting data errors. To detect such data-flow errors, we develop a polynomial complexity algorithm based on the so-called Activity Data Incidence Matrix (ADIM) of a WFIO-net. Following by that, we propose three effective correction strategies to resolve the detected data-flow anomalies. Finally, we present a property loan approval business process case study for our approach, and the study results demonstrate that the proposed detection and correction approaches are indeed very effective and can be applied to real-life settings.

To overcome the disadvantages of the traditional block-matching-based image denoising method, an image denoising method based on block matching with 4D filtering (BM4D) in the 3D shearlet transform domain and a generative adversarial network is proposed. Firstly, the contaminated images are decomposed to get the shearlet coefficients; then, an improved 3D block-matching algorithm is proposed in the hard threshold and wiener filtering stage to get the latent clean images; the final clean images can be obtained by training the latent clean images via a generative adversarial network (GAN).Taking the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity (SSIM for short) of image, and edge-preserving index (EPI for short) as the evaluation criteria, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can not only effectively remove image noise in high noisy environment, but also effectively improve the visual effect of the images.

Predicting the polyproline type II (PPII) helix structure is crucial important in many research areas, such as the protein folding mechanisms, the drug targets, and the protein functions. However, many existing PPII helix prediction algorithms encode the protein sequence information in a single way, which causes the insufficient learning of protein sequence feature information. To improve the protein sequence encoding performance, this paper proposes a BERT‐based PPII helix structure prediction algorithm (BERT‐PPII), which learns the protein sequence information based on the BERT model. The BERT model’s CLS vector can fairly fuse sample’s each amino acid residue information. Thus, we utilize the CLS vector as the global feature to represent the sample’s global contextual information. As the interactions among the protein chains’ local amino acid residues have an important influence on the formation of PPII helix, we utilize the CNN to extract local amino acid residues’ features which can further enhance the information expression of protein sequence samples. In this paper, we fuse the CLS vectors with CNN local features to improve the performance of predicting PPII structure. Compared to the state‐of‐the‐art PPIIPRED method, the experimental results on the unbalanced dataset show that the proposed method improves the accuracy value by 1% on the strict dataset and 2% on the less strict dataset. Correspondingly, the results on the balanced dataset show that the AUCs of the proposed method are 0.826 on the strict dataset and 0.785 on less strict datasets, respectively. For the independent test set, the proposed method has the AUC value of 0.827 on the strict dataset and 0.783 on the less strict dataset. The above experimental results have proved that the proposed BERT‐PPII method can achieve a superior performance of predicting the PPII helix.

The traditional medical image fusion methods, such as the famous multi-scale decomposition-based methods, usually suffer from the bad sparse representations of the salient features and the low ability of the fusion rules to transfer the captured feature information. In order to deal with this problem, a medical image fusion method based on the scale invariant feature transformation (SIFT) descriptor and the deep convolutional neural network (CNN) in the shift-invariant shearlet transform (SIST) domain is proposed. Firstly, the images to be fused are decomposed into the high-pass and the low-pass coefficients. Then, the fusion of the high-pass components is implemented under the rule based on the pre-trained CNN model, which mainly consists of four steps: feature detection, initial segmentation, consistency verification, and the final fusion; the fusion of the low-pass subbands is based on the matching degree computed by the SIFT descriptor to capture the features of the low frequency components. Finally, the fusion results are obtained by inversion of the SIST. Taking the typical standard deviation, QAB/F, entropy, and mutual information as the objective measurements, the experimental results demonstrate that the detailed information without artifacts and distortions can be well preserved by the proposed method, and better quantitative performance can be also obtained.

Along with the growth of graph neural networks (GNNs), many researchers have adopted metapath-based GNNs to handle complex heterogeneous graph embedding. The conventional definition of a metapath only distinguishes whether there is a connection between nodes in the network schema, where the type of edge is ignored. This leads to inaccurate node representation and subsequently results in suboptimal prediction performance. In heterogeneous graphs, a node can be connected by multiple types of edges. In fact, each type of edge represents one kind of scene. The intuition is that if the embedding of nodes is trained under different scenes, the complete representation of nodes can be obtained by organically combining them. In this paper, we propose a novel definition of a metapath whereby the edge type, i.e., the relation between nodes, is integrated into it. A heterogeneous graph can be considered as the compound of multiple relation subgraphs from the view of a novel metapath. In different subgraphs, the embeddings of a node are separately trained by encoding and aggregating the neighbors of the intrapaths, which are the instance levels of a novel metapath. Then, the final embedding of the node is obtained by the use of the attention mechanism which aggregates nodes from the interpaths, which is the semantic level of the novel metapaths. Link prediction is a downstream task by which to evaluate the effectiveness of the learned embeddings. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world heterogeneous graph datasets for link prediction. The empirical results show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines; in particular, when comparing it to the best baseline, the F1 metric is increased by 10.35% over an Alibaba dataset.
