Dr. SubbaRao V. Madhunapantula received his Ph.D. from University of Mysore for his work carried out in Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, Karnataka, India. His contributions in the area of phytochemicals, functional foods and elucidating the mechanism-of-action of ayurvedic formulations have been published in various peer reviewed international journals that include Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, Food Chemistry, Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Cancers, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, to name a few. Dr. SubbaRao has guided 15 students for their Ph.D. and mentored 50 students for their post graduate dissertations. Dr. SubbaRao’s group at Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) Laboratory is currently working on (a) repurposing drugs for the better treatment of cancers; (b) developing phytopharmaceuticals from millets for targeting dysregulated oncogenic proteins in carcinomas of colon and rectum, breast and cervix; and (c) identifying the factors (other than HPV infections) that are responsible for cervical cancer.
