Dr. Nicoletta Riva is a Lecturer in the Department of Pathology, in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, at the University of Malta. She graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Insubria (Varese, Italy), where she subsequently specialised in Internal Medicine. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Malta (Msida, Malta). Her main research interests include the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism, with particular focus on unusual site venous thrombosis; the management of the anticoagulant therapy; and the application of evidence-based medicine to the field of venous thromboembolism.
