An OSA/OPTICA fellow since 2022, mainly due to her pioneering research work in Lasers in Dentistry in Brazil. She has been a full professor at the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute IPEN-CNEN since 1995, where she was Head of the Center for Lasers and Applications and Coordinator of the Professional Master Program in Radiation Technology in Health Science and since 2017 has been appointed as OSA/OPTICA Traveling Lecturer. Her main research topics and interests are in Biophotonics, the study of optical and spectroscopic properties of biological tissues, mainly by multimodal FTIR and fluorescence spectroscopy and infrared thermography, with the aim of developing new diagnostic and therapeutic processes for clinical applications of lasers in dentistry and medicine.
