Dr. Alessandro Soldati (male, born 1989) is a researcher at the University of Parma, where he is active in the fields of power electronics and energy engineering. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc., both from the University of Parma, in 2011 and 2013, respectively (both with full marks). In 2014, he worked in the R&D department of Zapi s.p.a., an international company developing and producing drives for industrial trucks. In 2015, he started a Ph.D. course in information technology at University of Parma; he discussed his Ph.D. thesis in 2018: presenting an innovative gate driver (subsequently patented) which can boost the lifetime of power electronics devices. In this activity, he focused on modern wide band-gap devices and advanced control algorithms. This study was supported by his visiting period at Aalborg University, allowing him to obtain the Doctor Europaeus title. In 2017, he cofounded the spin-off company eDriveLAB, active in the field of vehicle electrification and participated by the University of Parma; he is currently CTO of that company. He presented his own works at various power electronics conferences from 2015 to 2017, achieving also two best-presentation awards. He is a reviewer for many journals and conferences. He is the author of 28 scientific peer-reviewed papers, seven of which are in international journals. He is also the author of one patent, co-author of two granted patents and unique author of two patents pending approval.
