Bulmaro Cisneros obtained the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Science in the specialty of Genetics and Molecular Biology at CINVESTAV. He was a CONACYT and NIH fellow. He completed a postdoctoral stay at the French Institute of Health (INSERM) and is currently a CINVESTAV 3D Senior Researcher in the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology at CINVESTAV and a member of the National System of Researchers, Level III. He studies different hereditary diseases of biomedical relevance, including muscular dystrophies and cerebrospinal ataxias. His research has been funded by national (CONACYT, ICYT-DF, Fundación Miguel Alemán) and international agencies (Third World Academy of Science [TWAS] and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, USA [MDA]) and the American pharmaceutical company Karyopharm.
