Dr. R. Amirtharajan was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu province, India, in 1975. He received his B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from P.S.G. College of Technology, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, India, in 1997 and his M.Tech. and Ph. D. from SASTRA Deemed University Thanjavur, India, in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He joined SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India (Previously Shanmugha College of Engineering) as a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1997 and is now a Professor. His research interests include Information Security, Image Encryption, Information Hiding, and Secure Communication. So far, he has filed two international patents (USA & WIPO - PCT/IB2010/054086, US 2011/0228943 A1 & US 8,971,531 B2 (Issued March 2015)) and one national patent; he has published more than 321+ research articles in national and international journals, 87+ SCI/SCIE, and 90+ IEEE conference papers with five Best Paper Awards. He has supported 26 PhD Scholars and 20 Master students and is currently supervising 1 PhD Scholar with a guided 100+ UG project. He also received the Certificate of Appreciation from IBM in 2009 for the Great Mind Challenge, Mentor IBM Academic Initiative Program. Recently, he received the Founder Chancellor Award for the best PhD. thesis for 2013 from SASTRA Deemed University and received the SASTRA Anukul Puraskar for Higher Involvement in Research and Education.
