Position:                  Professor of Food Process Engineering Director of Dates Industry & Technology Chair (CDIT)Department: Agricultural Engineering.Minor: Food Process Engineering.Academic Interests: Food processing engineering fields include:o Design, implementation, and consultations of food industry plants.o Postharvest chain planning including: harvesting, handling, pre-cooling, sorting, grading, transportation, cooling, and marketing. o Focus on maintaining date quality through proper storage, freezing, controlled atmospheric storage, and modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) to extend the shelf life of commodities.o Developing innovations of dates and dairy products into quality date syrup, powder, milk-date drinks, and other products. Utilization of Other palm tree residuals is also of interest.o Conduct and manage research projects, including evaluation of food quality, including sensory evaluation, engineering properties, and design of food packaging. Implementations of heat and mass transfer, physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of food and fresh produce in various food process applications.               Consultations on dates technology and processing for several governmental and private sectors, such as the Saudi Development Fund, the Arab Authority for Agriculture. Investment and Development (AAAID), NADEC, General Authority for Technical Training, Ministry of EWA, SABIC, GLG, ICARDA, FAO, and UNIDO.
