Biography

My research bridges fungal plant pathology, microbiology, and molecular biology, with a particular focus on SNARE proteins. I have extensively investigated crucial roles of SNAREs in protein secretion, autophagy, growth, and the pathogenicity of Fusarium graminearum. These proteins are key regulators of vesicular transport, ensuring the delivery of vesicles from organelles like the ER and Golgi to the plasma membrane and other cellular compartments. Additionally, I have enhanced enzyme secretion of industrial strains such as Trichoderma reesei through genetic engineering of promoters and overexpression of SNARE proteins. This work enabled the successful heterologous production of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) by codon optimization of CDH gene from Phanerochaete chrysosporium under constitutive promoters in T. reesei. Currently, I am working on the role of SNARE proteins in Phytophthora infestans-Nicotiana benthimiana and tomato.
