Ahmad Raeisi Najafi earned his first Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnique in 2006 and a second Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Drexel University and directs the Multiscale Computational Mechanics and Biomechanics Lab (MCMB Lab). He previously served as Director of the NSF S-STEM AMIE Scholarship Program at Drexel. His research spans design optimization, damage and fracture mechanics, computational biology and biophysics, and orthopedic materials and implants. Prof. Najafi is the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the NSF CAREER Award (2022), Drexel Provost Award for Outstanding Early Career Scholarly Productivity (2023), College of Engineering Outstanding Early-Career Research Award (2023), and the Drexel University Career Development Award (2019). He is an active member of ASME, USACM, ISSMO, and ASB and serves as a Review Editor for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization. He previously served on the Editorial Board of Multifunctional Materials (2019–2022).
