My research program is dedicated toward understanding and harnessing microbial interactions for the improvement of human and environmental health. My work spans three interconnected spheres: 1) Agricultural Sustainability: where I investigate plant-microbe dialogues, particularly signaling molecules, to enhance nitrogen use efficiency in crops and develop microbial consortia for marginal soil remediation; 2) Pest Management: building on foundational work leveraging insect-microbe symbioses for eco-friendly pest control; and 3) Public Health: where I apply my expertise in microbial ecology and genomics to investigate the molecular virulence factors of environmental bacteria that cause a high incidence of clinical cases in Cameroon. I employ an advanced multi-omics toolkit including metabolomics, 16S rRNA gene sequencing and RNA-Seq to uncover the fundamental mechanisms driving these diverse interactions. The ultimate goal of my research is to develop innovative bio-solutions for sustainable agriculture and to inform new strategies for diagnosing and preventing clinically relevant environmental infections.
