Alessandra Marieli Vacari is a Professor of Entomology and Integrated Pest Management at University of Franca, Brazil, where she founded the Laboratory of Entomology. Her research focuses on biological control, chemical ecology, and sustainable pest management, with emphasis on natural enemies, botanical insecticides, and ecologically based strategies for tropical cropping systems, particularly coffee. She has coordinated multiple FAPESP-funded projects and collaborates closely with growers and industry partners to translate research into practical solutions. Her work has contributed to the large-scale adoption of augmentative biological control using chrysopid predators, currently applied across nearly one million hectares annually in Brazil. Dr. Vacari is actively involved in graduate education, student mentoring, and international research collaborations. She serves as reviewer and editor for several journals and leads initiatives that integrate science, innovation, and sustainability to advance resilient agricultural systems.
