Andy J. Green is a wetland ecologist with a particular interest in the functional role of, and ecosystem services provided by, waterbirds in aquatic ecosystems. This includes their role as hosts for parasites and as vectors of dispersal of plants, invertebrates and microbes, as well as biovectors of nutrients and contaminants. He is particularly interested in Mediterranean wetlands, including their biological invasions, and restoration. His D.Phil. at Oxford University was on sexual selection in amphibians, supported by Smithsonion STRI and Christopher Welch Scholarships. He has a B.A. in Zoology from Magdalen College, Oxford and has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers. He has been based at the Doñana Biological Station (EBD-CSIC) since 1995, where he obtained tenure in 2000, and a full professorship in 2009.
