Antonio F. Hernández, MD (1985), PhD (1989), is Full Professor of Toxicology at the University of Granada School of Medicine, Spain. He is currently Chair of the PPR (Plant Protection Products and their residues) Panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and member of the EFSA Scientific Committee. He has also acted as temporal advisor for the WHO in relation to biomarkers in children. From 2008 to 2017 he was appointed as Special Government Employee of the USA and acted as a consultant of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Food Quality Protection Act to assist the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). His main area of research is the assessment of adverse health effects of pesticides by using molecular biomarkers in occupational and environmentally exposed populations, as well as the underlying mechanisms of toxicity. During the past 27 years, Dr. Hernández has published over 150 full-length scientific articles/book chapters.
