Mr. Ayman Ahmed is a senior Arbovirologist with extensive experience in the research and control of disease vectors and vector-borne diseases with focus on Arboviruses. He is leading the surveillance of invasive diseases vectors including Anopheles stephensi and Aedes albopictus in Sudan. He used to lead the coordination of the Global Response to the emergence and spread of An. stephensi in the Horn of Africa during his former work at the World Health Organization (WHO). Ayman’s experienced in the early preparedness, investigation, and response to arboviral diseases and hemorrhagic fevers outbreaks and is currently holding a position of International Advisor at Sudan Federal Ministry of Health and a Lecturer at the University of Khartoum. He works on establishing a International One Health Centre for the Integrated Surveillance and Response of Zoonotic Diseases, Haemorrhagic fevers that is dedicated to serving Africa and globally in order to reduce local and global burden of Zoonoses that severely impact the health, security, economic, and food security worldwide, through multidisciplinary collaboration. His professional experience is characterized by high international mobility and extensive field research. He provides consultancies to Ministries of Health and Animal Resources in the region of Africa on the surveillance and control of disease vectors, development of national health strategy and action plans, and outbreak investigations and responses, particularly in LMICs.
