Dr. Haque is an Associate Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston and a Member of the Cancer Immunology Program at the Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC. He is also a Research Health Scientist at Ralph Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Research interests include inflammation, autoimmunity, cancer, and neurodegeneration. His recent interest includes studies of neurodegenerative diseases and spinal cord injury by regulation of proteases (e.g., calpain), hormones (e.g., estrogen) and metabolic factors (e.g., enolase). Dr. Haque’s expertise is tapped by National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD), Leukemia and lymphoma Society (LLS), Dr. Haque has also expertise in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy, and he secured multiple federal grants and contracts. He serves as a reviewer for many Journals including Journal of Immunology, Circulation, Immunology, Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, Cancer Research, Neuroimmunology, Metabolic Brain Disease, and Neurochemical Research to name a few. He also serves on the editorial boards of Neurochemical Research, Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, Frontiers of Immunology to name a few. His work is supported by the NIH, VA, DOD, LLS, ACS, ALA, and SCIRF and has resulted in dozens of peer-reviewed publications.
