Research Focus: My research centers on the intricate relationship between gut microbiota, and dietary fiber as well as natural compounds (particularly from citrus sources) in modulating human health. By leveraging multi-omics approaches, I investigate how bioactive components in citrus peels (e.g., flavanones, pectin) synergize with gut microbes to enhance metabolic regulation, immune function, and barrier integrity. Key Directions: Microbiome-bioactive components interactions: Exploring how citrus-derived bioactive components (e.g., pectin) act as prebiotics to shape microbial diversity and short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production. Nutritional therapeutics: Translating findings into personalized dietary strategies for chronic diseases (e.g., obesity, IBD) via fiber-enriched interventions. Methodology: In vitro fermentation models with human fecal microbiota Metagenomic/metabolomic profiling of gut microbiota Animal experiments assessing citrus peel extracts' effects on gut health markers Vision: To bridge traditional nutrition and precision medicine by unlocking citrus's potential as a functional food for microbiome-targeted health promotion.
