Biography

I'm an exploration geologist with a broad foundation. My main research focus is the emplacement and geochemistry of Li-Cs-Ta pegmatite systems and porphyry Cu-Mo-Au deposits. I am currently working with the Geological Survey of Queensland, Australia, although have previously worked as exploration manager and site geologist with junior explorers and contractors across a variety of commodities, including LCT pegmatites, orogenic gold, Cu-Mo and Cu-Au porphyries, heavy mineral sands, and oil and gas exploration in both Australia and New Zealand. I also hold an adjunct researcher position with Victoria University of Wellington. Though my roles in exploration I have characterised the geochemical and structural controls on the emplacement on the Dorchap Dyke Swarm in Victoria, Australia (at the time the only known spodumene mineralisation in eastern Australia), and have discovered spodumene in the Buchanan Creek pegmatite dykes in Queensland Australia (the only other known instance of spodumene in eastern Australia). In addition to mineral exploration, LCT Pegmatites and porphyry systems, my other research interests are broad, and include tectonic reconstructions and paleogeographic modelling, sequence- and chemo-stratigraphy, basin analysis, petroleum source rock characterisation, paleoclimate studies (specifically foraminiferal Mg/Ca and oxygen isotopes), and strontium stable isotope stratigraphy.
