Bertha Santos teaches road design, operation, maintenance and management, and GIS at the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. She joined that university in 1998 and has been an Assistant Professor of Transport Infrastructure Engineering at the UBI Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture since 2008. She holds an MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Coimbra and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Beira Interior. Her research interests include road and airport pavement management systems (PMS), statistical data analysis and modeling in transport engineering and road safety, road user costs, road work zones, soft mobility, and applications of GIS in transportation.
