Author Dr. Ilona Sadok earned, from the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, her M.Sc. (2011–2013) and her Ph.D. in Chemistry (2013–2017). She is now the Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Her work in the field has resulted in more than 40 publications. She was the guest editor of the journal Sensors. She is interested in the development of novel approaches towards the measurement of biologically important molecules that might play key roles in human disease pathogenesis. Currently, she is focused on tryptophan metabolites via the kynurenine pathway (named kynurenines). She is developing analytical tools (utilizing liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and voltammetry) for monitoring kynurenine concentrations in samples from patients to understand how changes in the regulation of tryptophan metabolism have an impact on the mechanisms of human diseases (such as cancer).
