Christina Stouraiti is an Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA),
School of Science, Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment (Division of Economic
Geology and Geochemistry) in the field of Geochemistry and specialization on magmatic
rocks and associated ore mineralization, using whole rock analysis, mineral chemistry,
isotope geochemistry, and a combination of analytical methods. She started her academic
career at the National Technical University of Athens as a research associate (1998 –
2001) on European-funded projects. She has been appointed to the Ministry of
Environment Energy and Climate Change, as a scientific expert in the field of waste
management (mining and hazardous wastes) for twelve years (2001 – 2013).
Member of many scientific committees and associations (selected): the steering
committee of the Global Geochemical baselines Commission - International Union of
Geological Sciences IUGS, the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the
European Geosciences Union. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Ministry of
Environment Energy and Climate Change (YPEKA) for the environmental licensing of
mining-exploitation projects of gold deposits in Greece (2009-2012); National Expert in
the Committee for the adaptation of technical progress (TAC Committee) of European
Directive 1999/31/EC “on the landfill of waste” (2002-2003).
