Dr. David Herrera is a Full-Professor and Chair of Periodontology at the Faculty of Odontology, Associated Dean for Dental Clinics, and Co-Director of ETEP (Etiology and Therapy of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases) Research Group, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Madrid, Spain. He earned, a European Doctor (Ph.D.) at the University Complutense, Madrid, Spain. He is the Chair of the Workshop Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and a former member of the Expert Group of the Global Periodontal Health Project of the World Dental Federation (FDI). His research interests include the etiology, pathogenesis, and management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, with a special focus on bacterial biofilms and their interactions with their hosts.
