David Gomes Andrade is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro and an integrated member of TEMA – Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation. He holds a PhD in Steel and Composite Construction from the University of Coimbra. His research focuses on welding and joining technologies, Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing, mechanical and microstructural characterisation of metallic materials, numerical modelling, fatigue and fracture, and their application to steel, composite and modular construction systems. He has been involved in several national and European R&D projects. His activity combines scientific research, higher education teaching, student supervision, laboratory development, standardisation activities and the preparation and coordination of collaborative research projects. He has authored several peer-reviewed journal papers, conference publications and patent applications in the fields of advanced manufacturing, welding and structural engineering.
